Estheticians School

An esthetician is a skin care professional who is state licensed. In order to become state licensed, it is necessary to attend an accredited training program and pass the state board exam. Different states have different requirements. For example in California, New York and Nevada the requirement is 600 hours of training. Other states may have longer requirements. It all depends on the decisions made by the particular board of cosmetology in that state. You will find estheticians school offers full time and sometimes part time courses for students.


You can expect your education to take months to complete, even if you go on a full time basis. There is much to learn when it comes to this career field. You will need to learn about the skin. This may include learning about skin disorders, skin types and more. In addition you will have to perform real world training in a salon or spa type environment. The training for an esthetician is part classroom and part technique. You'll be cracking books, but you'll also be practicing various techniques like facials and waxing.

When it comes to cost, many esthetics programs offer financing for students who cannot afford to pay full tuition up front. The price of the program will depend on your location, the school you choose and how extensive the courses are. There are basic programs then there are master classes for estheticians who want to take their education and their career as far as it can go. Master estheticians enjoy a higher rate of pay and can perform more services for their clients when compared to basic estheticians.

Either way you will find estheticians school a necessity for this career. Without the proper training you will never be able to succeed in this field. However there are great schools all over the country that can teach you everything you need to know. By the time your course is complete you should feel confident taking the state exam and ready to begin a career in the world of esthetics. Before deciding upon a particular school, shop around a bit to see where you feel most comfortable and which institutions seem to fit your goals and needs.
